Only the English could have invented this language ???

We'll begin with a box, and the plural is boxes,
But the plural of ox becomes oxen, not oxes.
One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese,
Yet the plural of moose should never be meese.
You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice,
Yet the plural of house is houses, not hice.

If the plural of man is always called men,
Then shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen?
If I speak of my foot and show you my feet,
And I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet?
If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth,
Why shouldn't the plural of booth be called beeth?

Then one may be that, and three would be those,
Yet hat in the plural would never be hose,
And the plural of cat is cats, not cose.
We speak of a brother and also of brethren,
But though we say mother, we never say methren.
Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and him,
But imagine the feminine: she, shis and shim!

Let's face it - English is a crazy language.
There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger;
neither apple nor pine in pineapple.
English muffins weren't invented in England .
We take English for granted, but if we explore its paradoxes,
We find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square,
And a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing,
Grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham?
Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend.
If you have a bunch of odds and ends
And get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?

If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught?
If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?
Sometimes I think all the folks who grew up speaking English
Should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane.

In what other language do people recite at a play and play at a recital?
We ship by truck but send cargo by ship.
We have noses that run and feet that smell.
We park in a driveway and drive in a parkway.
And how can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same,
While a wise man and a wise guy are opposites?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language
In which your house can burn up as it burns down,
In which you fill in a form by filling it out,
And in which an alarm goes off by going on.

And, in closing, if Father is Pop, how come Mother's not Mop?

And if people from Poland are called Poles
Then people from Holland should be Holes
And the Germans, Germs.
And lets not forget the Americans, who changed s to z, but that's another story.

Indian court convicts 7 in Bhopal gas tragedy

BHOPAL, India – An Indian court on Monday convicted seven former senior employees of Union Carbide's Indian subsidiary of "death by negligence" for their roles in the Bhopal gas tragedy that left an estimated 15,000 people dead more than a quarter century ago.

The subsidiary company, Union Carbide India Ltd., was convicted of the same charge but the company no longer exists.

The former employees, many of them in their 70s, face up to two years in prison. The judge has not yet announced sentences.

Large groups of survivors and relatives, along with rights activists, gathered in the city and chanted slogans saying the verdict was too little, too late.

Early on Dec. 3, 1984, a pesticide plant run by Union Carbide leaked about 40 tons of deadly methyl isocyanate gas into the air in the city of Bhopal in central India, quickly killing about 4,000 people. The lingering effects of the poison raised the death toll to about 15,000 over the next few years, according to government estimates.

Local activists insist the real numbers are almost twice that, and say the company and government have failed to clean up toxic chemicals at the plant, which closed after the accident.

The verdicts, which were in a local court and are likely to be appealed, came as the case crawled through India's notoriously slow and ineffective judicial system.

India's Central Bureau of Investigation, the country's top investigative agency, had originally accused 12 defendants: eight senior Indian company officials; Warren Anderson, the head of Union Carbide Corp. at the time of the gas leak; the company itself and two subsidiary companies.

One of the Indian officials has since died. Anderson, and Union Carbide and its subsidiaries, have never appeared in court proceedings.

Union Carbide was bought by Dow Chemical Co. in 2001. Dow says the legal case was resolved in 1989 when Union Carbide settled with the Indian government for $470 million, and that all responsibility for the factory now rests with the government of the state of Madhya Pradesh, which now owns the site.

Conquer Your Fear With Action

Nothing in life is to be feared.
It is only to be understood.
When you dare to face the things that scare you;
You open the door to freedom.
Most of your obstacles will melt away
If instead of cowering before them or procrastinating
About dealing with them
You make up your mind to walk boldly through them.
Don't be afraid to take the step you need to take
To make positive changes in your life.
To fight fear you must act.
Waiting, putting off, or postponing only increases fear.
If you understood enough, you would never be afraid.

unknown.

Hamiin ko nazm-e-gulistaan pe iKhtiyaar nahiin

Hawas naseeb nazar ko kahiin qaraar nahiin
main muntazar houn, magar teraa intezaar nahiin

Hamiin se rang-e-gulistaan, hamiin se rang-e-bahaar
hamiin ko nazm-e-gulistaan pe iKhtiyaar nahiin

Abhii na chher muhabbat ke geet aie mutrib
abhii hayaat kaa maahaul Khushgavaar nahiin

Tumhaare ahd-e-vafaa ko main ahd kyaa samjhoun
mujhe Khud apnii muhabbat kaa aitbaar nahiIn

Na jaane kitne gile ismein muztarib hain nadeem
vo ek dil jo kisii kaa gilaa-guzaar nahiin

Gurez kaa nahiin qaa’il hayaat se, lekin
jo sach kahoun to mujhe maut naagavaar nahiin

Ye kis maqaam pe pahunchaa diyaa zamaane ne
kay ab hayaat pe tera bhi iKhtiyaar nahiin

Zindagi Khafa to nahin

Maloom hai mujhe ki zindagi
Mujhse kafa to nahin hai

Par kaise yakeen karun ki
Wo bewafa bhi nahin hai,

Zindagi tere saye main simat
Jane ko jee chahata hai aaj

Par darte hain ki kanhi tu
Koi jhootha, khawab to nahin hai

Tere chehare ki hansi mere
dil Ko sukoon de jati hai, phir
sochte hain tu koi fareb to nahin hai

hath jo tu de to pakad lu daman
phir sochun koi daga to nahin hai

zindagi tu to ek kadwi sacchai hai
koi khusnuman saman to nahin hai

phir bhi chahun tujhe har hadh se jyada
tujhe na chahne ki koi wajah to nahin hai.

~~~Akele To Hum Pehle Bhi Jee Rahe The,
Kyu Tanha-Se Ho Gaye Hai Tere Jane Ke Baad....~~~
